PARK ADVISORY

Park Paving: The park will be closed to all day-use visitors Monday-Thursday from November 4 to December 20 for paving.


The Jungle Trail is open but the boardwalk section remains closed.


The swimming area is CLOSED for the season. Check back in 2025!


Due to current river levels, we are not currently offering canoe or kayak rentals for the Canoe Trail.

Pets are allowed in most outdoor areas provided they are kept under physical restraint or on a leash not longer than six feet. Owners will be asked to remove noisy or dangerous pets or pets that threaten or harass wildlife. Pets are not allowed in or around lodging facilities.

History And Interpretation

  • Programs and Guided Tours: The park offers some scheduled programs throughout the year. Please check our program listings for more information. Programs are also offered by request. Please email the park, if you would like to schedule a program.

  • African American History: Aiken State Park was built during the Great Depression by an African American detachment of the Civilian Conservation Corps. Interpretive signage throughout the park tells their story, and their work can still be seen in some of the park’s original structures and features.

  • Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC): Yes
  • When & How PRT Acquired: Purchased in 1934 from various owners.
