Can I bring my own boat or rent a boat at Pine Island State Park?
Day-use boat access for trailered or motorized boats is not available at Pine Island State Park. No boats are available for rent at the park. Visitors are welcome to bring car-top watercraft, such as kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. While there is no designated launch, small watercraft may be carried to the water and launched near the overflow parking area by Sunset Hall. Due to the narrow causeway entering the park, boat trailers are not permitted for day-use visitors. All watercraft must be transported on top of a vehicle or in a standard-sized truck bed.
Can I launch my boat at one of the boat ramps?
Boat ramps at Pine Island State Park are reserved for marina slip lessees only.
Can I access Pine Island State Park by boat from Lake Murray?
Only visitors with a registered marina slip may access Pine Island State Park by boat.

Can I rent a picnic shelter at Pine Island State Park?
Pine Island State Park does not offer any shelters for rental at this time, due to limited parking. Shelters can be used on a first-come, first-served basis when the park is open to the public.
Is there swimming at Pine Island State Park?
Our natural swimming area typically opens in April and closes in October. When open, this designated area at our beach is swim at your risk, and there are no lifeguards on duty. Swimming is not permitted in any other areas of the park or when the designated swimming area is closed for the season or for maintenance. Feel free to contact the park directly or read posted signs at the beach to see if the swimming area is open.
Can I access the park on foot or by bicycle if I live nearby?
You can access the park on foot or by bicycle during normal operating hours if you pay admission or have a Park Passport. Parking outside the entrance is prohibited. Unauthorized vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense.
Can I access the park by golf cart if I live nearby?
Golf carts are treated the same as full-sized motor vehicles at SC State Parks. For safety purposes and to protect the park’s natural resources, golf carts and all other public motor vehicles will be restricted to parking in the Public Parking located near Sunset Hall.
Can I have a wedding or other large event at Pine Island State Park?
Due to limited parking, Pine Island State Park will not offer any facility rentals for large groups until after renovations at Sunset Hall are completed. Please see the Sunset Hall page for more information.
