TRAVEL ADVISORY

Beginning May 2021, construction will begin on the Fishing Pier at the Nature Center and is scheduled to continue throughout the following months. During this time, there may be temporary closures, congesting traffic, equipment and periods of construction noise.  Please contact the park if you have any questions or concerns. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The Breach Trail and the Little Hunting Island Loop are experiencing tidal influence and may become impassable after a storm or high tide.

Pets Logo

PETS

Pets are not allowed in the cabin or the cabin area, on the pier or inside the lighthouse complex. Dogs are not permitted on the tip of North Beach past the posted markers to protect critical shorebird habitat. Pets are allowed in most other outdoor areas provided they are kept under physical restraint or on a leash not longer than six feet. Owners will be asked to remove noisy or dangerous pets or pets that threaten or harass wildlife.

Picnic Shelters

  • Picnic Shelter Information: A picnic shelter may be reserved for $100-200/day. The shelter has electricity, power outlets and lighting. Rates are subject to change. If the shelter is not reserved, guests may use it on a first-come, first-served basis at no charge. Note: Admission is not included in shelter price. Rates listed do not include applicable tax and nonrefundable reservation costs.

  • Shelter Reservations: To make a picnic shelter reservation, call toll-free 1-866-345-PARK (7275) or reserve online by clicking on the Make a Reservation button located just underneath the large photo at the top of this page.

  • Picnic Tables: Picnic areas with tables are scattered throughout the park and in the North Beach and South Beach areas.
