Cheraw will be implementing a five-dollar rate increase at our golf course, effective on October 1, 2024. Read more about this change, here


Personal golf carts must remain in the campground and are prohibited in the cabin area, on the golf course and the day-use area. When in use or parked, they must remain on paved portions of the road. Golf carts must have all permits as required by the SCDMV displayed as well as a park guest tag.


Throughout the year, Cheraw is hosting golf tournaments at the park. For scheduled tournaments, the golf course is closed to public play or has a reduced amount of tee times available.  Call the Pro Shop at (843) 537-2215 or visit GOLFNOW to reserve your tee times.

PETS

Pets are not allowed in or around cabins, cabin areas or other lodging facilities. Pets are allowed in most outdoor areas provided they are kept under physical restraint or on a leash not longer than six feet. Owners will be asked to remove noisy or dangerous pets or pets that threaten or harass wildlife.

Things To Do

  • Fishing Information: Enjoy fishing in the park's 360-acre Lake Juniper for bass, bream and catfish. A valid South Carolina fishing license is required.

  • Tackle Loaner Program: This park participates in the Tackle Loaner Program sponsored by the SC Dept. of Natural Resources. Rods and reels are available for loan at the park office.
  • Fishing: Yes
  • Freshwater Fishing: Yes
  • Boating and Boat Access: A boat ramp provides access to Lake Juniper for private boats with no more than a 10 horsepower engine.

  • Canoe/Kayak Rentals: Canoes, kayaks, and SUP boards rent for $15/hr. A person of at least 18 years of age must be present in the canoes and kayaks at all times. SUP boards can only be used by guests 18 years or older.
  • Pedal Boat Rentals: Pedal boat rentals are available for $20/hr. A person of at least 18 years of age must be present in the pedal boats at all times. At any time boat rentals are subject to change due to weather and staffing. Please be prepared if there are no rentals for the day. Call the park for information.
  • Boating: Yes
  • Paddling: Yes
  • Wireless Internet Access: Complimentary Wi-Fi is available at Cheraw State Park.

  • Park Store/Gift Shop: Limited souvenir items may be purchased from the park office. The pro shop at the golf course has golf-related Cheraw State Park branded items including golf shirts, visors, caps, golf clubs and shoes.

  • Playground Equipment: Yes
  • Picnic Shelters: Yes
  • Playground: A large, natural-looking playground was newly installed in March 2011 near the office area.

  • Swimming: The swimming area in Lake Juniper is open daily from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend. All swimmers must remain inside the buoys and ropes. There are no lifeguards on duty.

  • Bird Watching: Birdwatching is a popular activity on the park. The red-cockaded woodpecker may be seen in or near their nesting area.

  • Geocaching: Geocaching is permitted. Several geocaches are located on the park. For more information visit the official geocaching website.

  • Biking: Yes
  • Birding: Yes
  • Other Facilities and Activities: Stand up paddleboards (SUPs) are available for rent each day of the week, Apr. through Oct. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. You must be 18 years old to rent them or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The park has a volleyball court, badminton sets and a horseshoe pit. All equipment is available for checkout at the park office.
  • Hiking Trails: Hiking trails include the Turkey Oak Trail, a loop trail that is 4.5-miles in length and includes an option for a short 2 mile loop. Along Lake Juniper is a half-mile boardwalk trail that crosses the dam spillway.

  • Biking Trails: The park has a bike trail that is nine miles in length.

  • Hiking: Yes
