PARK NEWS

Black River State Park is currently in the planning and development process and is currently closed.

 

The park will first become available to the public during our soft opening scheduled April 2, 2026 through September 30, 2026. During this time, sections of the park will be open with limited hours of operation. See additional park information provided below.

Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, beginning April 2, 2026.

ADMISSION

$3 adults; $1.50 SC Seniors (age 65 & older); $1 children age 6-15; ages 5 & younger free.

PETS

Pets are allowed in most outdoor areas provided they are kept under physical restraint or on a leash not longer than six feet. Owners will be asked to remove noisy or dangerous pets or pets that threaten park visitors and/or harass wildlife.

Things To Do

Fishing:  Enjoy fishing for large mouth bass, bream and catfish on the Black River. A valid South Carolina fishing license is required.

Kayaking/Canoeing:  A kayak/canoe launch to access the Black River is available for paid park guests.

Swimming:  Swimming at your own risk is allowed at the Meadows beach.

Bird Watching:  The area is great for bird watching.  You may see birds such as prothonotary warblers, swallow-tailed kites, bald eagles and southern barred owls.

Walking/Biking Trails:  The park currently offers a small hiking trail that starts at the park kiosk and circles back to the parking lot.

Picnicking:  There is one picnic shelter, multiple picnic tables and two park-style grills available on a first come, first serve basis.
