Why is the park only open on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 8am to 5pm?
The park service is conducting a soft opening at Black River State Park from April 2026 to the end of September 2026 to gauge public interest, use patterns and staffing needs in order to provide a quality experience to our visitors. We will provide updated park operation information on our website after September 30, 2026.
Will all 13 tracts of the Black River State Park open in 2026?
While we are working diligently to open several of these tracts to the public, it is going to take some time for planning and development. Please check back periodically for updates and additional park openings and information.
Is there an admission fee to enter the park?
Yes. To help subsidize the parks operational requirements, an admission box is located at The Meadows tract. An admission fee is required to enter and/or park within the boundaries of Black River State Park.
