Group Talks & Tours

Ranger-Guided Hikes and Ranger Battlefield Talks can be arranged by request for groups.

There is a required minimum of 10 participants to schedule a Ranger-Guided Hike or Ranger Battlefield Talk.

To request a Ranger-Guided Hike or a Ranger Battlefield Talk email the park at mgmillsp@scprt.com at least two weeks in advance of the date requested. These programs can book far in advance so please include alternate dates.



School Field Trips



The Battle of Musgrove Mill State Historic Site offers several Ranger-Guided Hikes and Talks: 

Ranger-Guided Battlefield Trail Hike: 

  • Time: 2 hours Distance: 1.5 miles 
  • Best for groups with age range Middle School-Adults 
  • Cost: $5.00 per Participant* 
  • Groups will learn about the August 19, 1780 battle of Musgrove Mill, the Patriots and Loyalists that fought the battle, the tactics and weapons used during the battle, and the importance of the battle to the Patriot cause. 
  • Hike is over moderately difficult hilly terrain. 

Ranger-Guided Blackstock Battlefield Hike: 

  • Time: 2 hours Distance: 2 miles 
  • Best for groups with age range Middle School-Adults 
  • Cost: $10.00 per participant* 
  • A unique experience of hiking an undeveloped Revolutionary War battlefield. You will learn about the history of the Nov. 20, 1780 battle of Blackstocks, the leaders and men from both sides that fought the battle, and the importance of the battle to the Patriot cause. 
  • Hike is mostly off trail over moderately difficult terrain.
  • Blackstock Battlefield Address: 568 Monument Road, Enoree, SC 29335.
  • There are currently no facilities at the Blackstock Battlefield so plan ahead and come prepared. 

*Guided Hikes Group Size Maximum is 40 people

Ranger Battlefield Talk - Battle of Musgrove Mill: 

  • Time: 1 hr. 20 min. 
  • Location: Seated talk on handicap accessible porch of Visitor Center 
  • Cost: $5.00 per participant** 
  • This one-hour seated lecture will cover the history of why the August 19,1780 battle of Musgrove Mill occurred, the specifics of the battle itself, and the importance of the battle to the Patriot cause. After the lecture there will be time for audience questions. 

Ranger Battlefield Talk - Battle of Blackstocks: 

  • Time: 1 hr. 30 min. 
  • Location: On the Blackstocks' battlefield. (Seating location can be moved to best meet the physical limitations of your group.) 
  • Cost: $10.00 per participant** 
  • This unique one-hour lecture on the actual battlefield will cover the history of why the November 20, 1780, battle of Blackstocks occurred, the specifics of the battle itself, and the importance of the battle to the Patriot cause. After the lecture there will be a time for audience questions. 
  • Blackstock Battlefield Address: 568 Monument Road, Enoree, SC 29335.
  • There are currently no facilities at the Blackstock Battlefield and parking is limited so plan ahead and come prepared.

**Battlefield Talk Group Size Maximum is 50 people


What to Wear/Bring: Programs are all outdoor programs. Please dress for the weather and wear close-toed shoes and bring bottled water.
