The hiking trail remains closed. 


Trackside Grill has partnered with Lake Wateree State Park to provide food to park visitors. They specialize in hand-crafted hamburgers, hotdogs, pizza, and slow-smoked pulled pork. The TSC Express food trailer will be parked in the tackle shop parking lot. Check out their website and Facebook for menus and when they will be at Lake Wateree.

Things To Do


 

  • Fishing Information: Fishing for bream, catfish, crappie and bass may be enjoyed in Lake Wateree. Visitors may fish anywhere from the banks of the park. A valid South Carolina fishing license is required.

    If you are interested in holding a fishing tournament at the park please contact the park directly.

  • Tackle Loaner Program: This park participates in the Tackle Loaner Program sponsored by the SC Dept. of Natural Resources. Rods and reels are available for loan at the park store.

  • Fishing: Yes
  • Freshwater Fishing: Yes
  • Boating and Boat Access: One boat ramp with two lanes provides private boat access to Lake Wateree.

  • Canoe/Kayak Rentals: Kayaks are available for rent year round. Rentals include life jackets and paddles. Fees for rentals are $40/half day or $60/full day.
  • Boating: Yes
  • In-Water Refueling: Yes
  • Paddling: Yes
  • Boat Ramp: Yes
  • Park Store/Gift Shop: The park store includes basic grocery items, fishing supplies and tackle, camping and RV supplies, snacks, drinks, souvenirs, firewood and fishing licenses. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mon - Thu and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fri - Sun.

  • Playground Equipment: Yes
  • Playground: A newly opened playground is located near the park store. The modern playground includes a spiral slide, a dual wave slide and climbing activities.

  • Swimming: The park has a swimming area that is swim at your own risk. No lifeguards are on duty. The area has a sandy bottom and deepens slowly and gradually.

  • Bird Watching: The areas around the lake provide good birdwatching opportunities. Visitors may see bald eagles, osprey and other birds of prey.

  • Geocaching: Geocaching is permitted. Several geocaches are located on the park. For more information visit the official geocaching website.

  • Biking: Yes
  • Birding: Yes
  • Other Facilities and Activities: We have also added a disc golf practice course, soccer goals, and a new swing set in the park. For people who do not have their own disc for disc golf, we have a loaner program where visitors can borrow a set from the park.

  • Walking/Nature Trails: The Desportes Island Trail is a moderate 2.3-mile loop trail.

  • Biking Trails: Biking is allowed on the paved roads of the park and along the Desportes Island Trail.

  • Hiking: Yes
