The South Carolina Forestry Commission has issued a State Forester’s burning ban for all counties. A State Forester’s Burning Ban prohibits all outdoor burning, including yard debris burning, prescribed burning, campfires, bonfires, and other recreational fires in all unincorporated areas of the state. The ban will stay in effect until further notice.

Pets are not allowed in the camper cabins or the camper cabin area. Pets are allowed in most outdoor areas provided they are kept under physical restraint or on a leash not longer than six feet. Owners will be asked to remove noisy or dangerous pets or pets that threaten or harass wildlife.

Chester State Park is always looking for volunteers!


Park Host Responsibilities:

To be available to campers, render assistance, and provide information; to ensure that the facilities and grounds are maintained; to project a positive image regarding customer service, appearance codes, and personal conduct.


Job Duties:

  1. Reservations: Monitor Check-ins and Check-Outs
  2. Check-in incoming campers and provide vehicle/golf cart tags
  3. Provide information on campsites, Camper Cabins, Boat Rentals, etc.
  4. Keep sites blown off and clean for incoming guests
  5. Pick up litter throughout the campground
  6. Oversee firewood sales in the campground
  7. Alert rangers to maintenance/safety issues
  8. Keep bathrooms clean (campground bathhouses, primitive bathroom)
  9. Familiarize yourself with policies and procedures
  10. Report any camper infractions or questions to Park Rangers.
  11. Help with other park projects and events beyond the scope of day-to-day operations as needed.
  12. Assist in operating the park campground store
  13. Have Fun!

We want people to have fun and be safe at Chester State Park. Our hosts play a major role in the successful operation of Chester and serve as the eyes and ears of our campgrounds and other facilities, as our staff cannot be everywhere at once.
