Are there any waterfalls located on Calhoun Falls State Park?

There are no waterfalls located on the park.  There was once a set of shoals in the river that was covered when the lake was created. The town was named after this set of shoals which was on property belonging to Mr. James Edward Calhoun.  The park was then named after the town of Calhoun Falls.

Are there any other state parks located on Lake Russell?

Richard B. Russel State Park is located on the Georgia side of Lake Russell.  Calhoun Falls State Park is the only South Carolina State Park on Lake Russell.

Is there a designated swimming area at the park?

Lake swimming is available in a designated swimming area at Calhoun Falls State Park.  No lifeguards are on duty and you must swim at your own risk.

Are golf carts allowed on the park?

Yes, golf carts are allowed on the park.  You must be a licensed driver to operate the golf cart, and they cannot be driven after dark.  You must have all permits as required by the SCDMV.

Where is the nearest grocery store to the park?

There is a locally-owned store with grocery items in the town of Calhoun Falls about two miles from the park.

Does the park have cabins?

There are no cabins at Calhoun Falls State Park.  The nearest state park with cabins is Hickory Knob State Resort Park in McCormick, SC, located about 25 miles from Calhoun Falls.

Does the park have any full-service campsites?

There are no full-service campsites at the park.  Our RV campgrounds include water and electrical hook-ups (30/20 amp) and centralized dump stations.

Is there a day-use area at the park?

Yes.  Day guests at the park may enjoy the natural swimming beach, hiking trails, basketball court and tennis court located at the park.

Is fishing bait available for purchase at the park?

The park has a tackle shop that sells live bait seasonally -- crickets, minnows and worms.  We also have a selection of artificial tackle, snacks and souvenirs.

Where is the park’s Ultimate Outsider stamp located?

Our Ultimate Outsider stamp is located just outside the front door of the Tackle Shop inside of a black mailbox.
