Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I rent a stall or a corral?

You cannot tether line horses at the electric and water sites at H. Cooper Black.  Therefore, to camp with your horse overnight, you will need to rent a stall or corral.  Horses can be tether lined in our primitive area, but not in the campgrounds with water and electricity.

Can I tie my horses to a tree in the campgrounds that have electricity and water?

No, you may not tie your horse to a tree in the campgrounds that have water and electricity.  This is a park policy.  You will need to rent a stall or corral to keep your horses in.

Can I tie my horse to a tree in the primitive campground?

You may tie your horse to a tree in the primitive area only if it is cross-tied from two trees with a horse on a line itself.

What is the difference between a stall and a corral?

A stall is located in a barn.  Stalls measure 12'x12'.  Corrals are located behind or in front of the campsites and are 16'x16' panels.  In the Arena Campground Loop corrals are located behind the campsites.  In the Barn Campground Loop corrals are located just across the road from the campsites.

How many horses will a stall or corral hold?

Each stall or corral holds one horse only.

Is a Coggins test required for my horse?

A Coggins test is required on the park. Please bring your papers with you to the park. For further information (crossing state lines) please visit the South Carolina Equine Import Requirements. You may also read the South Carolina Animal Health Laws and Regulations.
