How You Can Help

Protect South Carolina's State Parks

Great parks help get people outside where they can explore the natural world around them. That’s why every dollar donated to the Beautiful Places Alliance is invested in South Carolina State Parks. The Alliance offers a variety of options for donating to the state parks, ranging from a one-time general donation to a corporate donation for a specific project in a state park.

Through your contribution to the Beautiful Places Alliance, you are making a commitment to protect South Carolina State Parks and preserve many of our state’s most-valued natural and cultural resources.

When you donate to the Beautiful Places Alliance, you are telling us that state parks matter in your community. Going for a hike, riding a bike or paddling a canoe are also great ways to improve your health!

Help Sponsor These Projects

All contributions to the Beautiful Places Alliance go directly to projects, not daily operations. Some other project ideas that have been proposed:

  • New wildlife viewing platforms along the lagoons and ponds at Huntington Beach State Park, which has long been considered one of the prime bird-watching spots along the East Coast.
  • Extending the boardwalk at Woods Bay State Park, which is between Florence and Sumter, to provide easy access to a sight rarely seen: the interior of a large, undisturbed Carolina Bay. These elliptical depressions of mysterious origin are unique to the coastal plains region and most have disappeared due to development.
  • A new viewing platform and deck overlooking a popular swimming hole off a mountain trail at Table Rock State Park on the Blue Ridge near Greenville.
  • Improvements to the path surrounding the 30-acre lake at Sesquicentennial State Park near Columbia that would turn the path into an easy to use hike-and-bike trail.

We value your thoughts as well as your contributions. To suggest other projects, please email Lou Fontana at or Daniel Gambrell

Grants and donations play a key role in the preservation of our state parks’ natural and cultural resources.
