Pets are allowed in most outdoor areas provided they are kept under physical restraint or on a leash not longer than six feet. Owners will be asked to remove noisy or dangerous pets or pets that threaten or harass wildlife.

Things To Do

  • Fishing Information: Enjoy fishing for bass, bream, catfish and crappie in the 18-acre park lake. The bream in this lake are catch and release. A valid South Carolina fishing license is required. Guests may try their luck from the bank, from the handicap accessible fishing pier or from a rental jon boat.

  • Fishing Pier: There is a handicap accessible fishing pier located on the park lake.

  • Boating and Boat Access: Rental fishing boats are available. Private boats that can be hand-carried from the parking lot to the lake are allowed. Gasoline motors are not allowed on the lake.

  • Fishing Boat Rentals: Non-motorized fishing boats rent for $15/day or $3/hour.

  • Playground Equipment: Yes
  • Park Store/Gift Shop: A gift shop offers several gift items which include historical toys, books and park t-shirts.

  • Playground: The park has one playground located near Shelter 2. It includes two slides and monkey bars.

  • Bird Watching: The Garden of the Waxhaws Trail around the park lake offers the best birding opportunities on the park.

  • Geocaching: Geocaching is permitted. Several geocaches are located on the park. For more information visit the official geocaching website.

  • Other Facilities and Activities: The park also has horseshoe pits, a volleyball net that is available for setup upon request and board games available for check out in the park office.

  • Hiking Trails: Andrew Jackson State Park offers two, one-mile loop trails.
    Crawford Trail (1.1-mile loop)
    Garden of the Waxhaws Trail (1.0-mile loop)

  • Biking Trails: Biking is allowed on the paved roads in the park.
