The Pier Store will resume winter hours on Thursday, November 28th: Open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.


Nature Center Closed on Sunday, December 22 and 29. We apologize for the inconvenience. 


Holiday Hours 2024:

Christmas Day

-The Pier Store will be closed but the pier will be open.

-The Ranger Station will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Please be aware that parking is first-come, first-serve and is LIMITED. Shelter guests are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to arrive outside peak hours (10 a.m. - 2 p.m.), especially on weekends and holidays in the summer. The park is extremely busy during this time and may reach normal capacities and close for a period of time. Should you forget something, you may want to check our retail stores before leaving the park, as the wait to re-enter could be extensive, and you could be turned away if the park is at capacity.

Pets are not allowed in the cabins or the cabin areas. Pets are not allowed on the beaches from 10am until 5pm (7 days a week) May 1 through Labor Day. This is a county ordinance that is effective on all public beaches in Horry County. Pets are allowed in most other outdoor areas year round, provided they are kept under physical restraint or on a leash not longer than six feet.

Bikes are also not allowed on the beach during the same time periods as pets.

Camping

Due to high visitation and limited parking capacity, the park cannot accommodate guests arriving early for their camping reservation. Check-in time is no earlier than 2pm for all campsites.  If you arrive before 2pm, you may be asked to leave until check-in time if parking is unavailable.  In addition, parking is no longer available for campers after check-out (noon) on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.  Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Safety Tip:  For your safety, please wear close-toed shoes and carry a flashlight at night while walking in the woods and campground.  Click here for more information about copperheads.

Myrtle Beach State Park RECYCLES! The park recycles cans, glass and plastic 1-7. Recycling bins are conveniently located near the dumpsters. Recycle your cardboard in the cardboard recycle bin located in the back of the ranger station. Recycle your fishing line (please cut off all rigs) on the end of the pier.

  • Camping Information: The main campground provides individual water and electrical hookups. The overflow campground is for tents only, does not provide electricity and has central water.

    Many sites accommodate RVs up to 40 feet, others up to 30 feet. There are also plenty of sites to accommodate smaller units including tents. All sites are convenient to hot showers, restrooms and laundromat facilities. All sites have complimentary wi-fi access. The campground is located approximately 300 yards from the beach.

    The Ranger Station (store/registration located at the campground entrance) includes limited grocery items, camping supplies, souvenirs, drinks, snacks, and firewood. Store hours: April - Sept. 8am-9:30pm; March, Oct. and Nov. 8am-8pm; Dec.-Feb. limited hours.

    Complimentary wi-fi is now available throughout the campground. For more information and access code, please check at the ranger station or park office.
  • Camping Reservations: To make a camping reservation or view current rates, call toll-free 1-866-345-PARK (7275) or visit our reservations page by clicking Make a Reservation at the top of this page. Rates vary by season and demand and are subject to change.

    Camping reservations must be made for a minimum of two nights. Reservations requested less than one (1) day in advance of check-in must be made directly through the park.

    For example: If today is Friday and you are making a reservation checking in on today, Friday, you must make the reservation by contacting the park directly.

    Campers arriving after park hours should contact the park office for the gate combination and access to the campground. Please call 843-238-5325 or email the park at myrtlebeachsp@scprt.com.

  • Designated Tent Sites: The 30-site overflow campground is open Easter weekend through Labor Day. Overflow campsites are designated for tent camping and have access to central water (no electricity).
