4th of July in State Parks
As many of us gather in state parks for the holiday weekend, this Fourth of July may look a little different than normal. Whether you’re hiking, wading in the lake or flipping burgers on the grill, celebrating Independence Day in state parks can be a memorable experience for you and your family.
Go on a Scavenger Hunt- There are several state park self-led activities that will keep you and the kids entertained throughout the holiday weekend. Have some fun locating the five Uncle Sam pictures throughout Barnwell State Park using the hints in the 4th of July Scavenger Hunt or go play Bird BINGO at Myrtle Beach State Park. If technology is more if your forte’, download the South Carolina State Parks Scavenger Hunt with missions at all 47 state parks.
Learn American History: Name a better way to celebrate America than by freshening up on American history? Yeah, we couldn’t think of one either. More than 200 Revolutionary War battles were fought in South Carolina, some of which were on state parks. Learn about the role parks like Andrew Jackson, Hampton Plantation, Landsford Canal and Musgrove Mill played in the Revolutionary War while on your visit.
