Camp Life at Rivers Bridge
At Battle of Rivers Bridge State Historic Site
Step into camp at the Battle of Rivers Bridge State Historic Site and experience the routines that prepared Civil War soldiers for battle. Members of the Palmetto Riflemen portray soldiers of the 47th Georgia Infantry through living-history stations exploring headquarters, bivouac life, music, food, drill, and tactics. Two scheduled black-powder firing demonstrations connect those everyday routines to the battlefield conditions soldiers faced at Rivers Bridge. This open-house program is free to the public, and runs from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the battlefield. Black-powder firing demonstrations are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Closed-toe shoes, water, sunscreen, and bug spray are encouraged.
