The Militia Elf Adventure at Oconee Station
At Oconee Station State Historic Site
This holiday season, join us at Oconee Station for a special interactive adventure with the Militia Elf! Our mischievous Militia Elf will be hiding in a new location each day, bringing the 1790s frontier to life through fun missions, historical facts, and challenges.
Participants are invited to complete a Soldier’s Log, either on paper or through the Goose Chase app, to track their daily discoveries. Anyone who completes entries on at least five separate days will earn a special holiday prize!
Each day the Militia Elf will appear in a new spot around Oconee Station with a “Dispatch Note,” a short card featuring a historical fact or activity hint. From frontier drills and mapmaking to cooking and holiday cheer, every mission brings a new glimpse into the life of the 1790s militia.
Remember: DON'T TOUCH THE ELF, HE MIGHT LOSE HIS MAGIC! Besides, Santa is watching!
How to Participate:
1.Visit Oconee Station during the program dates.
2.Grab your Soldier's Log from the park office or download the Goose Chase app
3.Find the Elf’s location and read the day’s Dispatch Note.
4.Record your discovery in your Soldier’s Log (paper or Goose Chase).
5.Complete logs for at least 5 days to earn your prize! If you are recording on a paper log turn those into the mailbox at the park office, Goose Chase points will signal completion.

The Militia Elf will be hiding somewhere around the park office, parking lot, trailhead, or historic buildings. Come out and find him!
What to Bring
Don't forget your Goose Chase app or pick up your paper log at the Park Office and bring it with you every time you look for the Elf!
