Forge History with Us This September at Oconee State Park!
Step back in time and witness history in the making! On September 13–14, the Phillip Simmons Artist Blacksmith Guild will bring fire, skill, and tradition to Oconee State Park in a once-in-a-lifetime event.
Watch master blacksmiths heat, hammer, and forge authentic strap hinges using age-old forge welding techniques—just as artisans did over a century ago. These handcrafted pieces will honor the Appalachian Gilded Age architecture of our sister site, Oconee Station in Walhalla, blending craftsmanship with cultural preservation.
This isn’t just a demonstration—it’s preservation in action. Feel the heat of the forge, hear the ring of the hammer, and see sparks fly as history is shaped before your eyes.
Join us and be part of this rare opportunity to witness living history, where heritage and artistry meet one glowing hinge at a time.
