Q: Who can participate in the South Carolina State Parks Junior Ranger Program?

A: Children 6 to 9 years of age, but anyone who is interested in participating may do so.

Q: Is there a cost for kids to participate in the Junior Ranger Program?

A: No. The program is free.

Q: What is the purpose of the Junior Ranger Program?

A: To get children outside to experience and enjoy their state parks.

Q: How many levels are involved with the Junior Ranger Program?

Q: Are there any rewards for completing the program?

A: Yes. There are rewards at the completion of each level.  A list of rewards can be found here.

Q: Are all the parks in South Carolina offering the Junior Ranger Program?

A: No. There are only 28 parks offering the program at this time. Click here for a complete list of parks.

Q: Will my child be safe while at the park participating in the program?

A: State parks are safe places where parents can feel comfortable letting their children spend time.

Q: Why participate in this program?

A: State Parks offer the best natural and cultural sites in South Carolina. The children learn about their state while having fun.

Q: Can special needs children participate?

A: Yes. The program can accommodate children with special needs. Please let the park ranger know if your child needs something special while at one of the parks. All South Carolina state parks are handicapped accessible.
