January 2026 Basic Electrical Training

Keeping South Carolina State Parks safe, functional, and welcoming requires skilled staff and ongoing professional development. From January 13–15, 2026, park rangers and maintenance staff from across the state gathered at Table Rock State Park for a statewide Basic Electrical Training.
Led by Upper Coastal Regional Maintenance Supervisor Brandon Bowers and supported by a team of regional leaders, the three-day training provided a hands-on learning experience focused on practical electrical skills used in daily park operations.
Training topics included:

Campground power pedestal wiring and troubleshooting

Three-way switch and lighting wiring

GFCI receptacle wiring

Standard wiring fundamentals

Lockout/Tagout procedures

811 dig safety practices
Participants actively engaged in hands-on exercises designed to build confidence and reinforce safe, effective electrical troubleshooting and repair techniques.
The enthusiasm and dedication shown throughout the week highlighted the importance of continued investment in hands-on professional development for staff across South Carolina State Parks.
