Electrical Training
Teams & Recognition
Keeping our parks beautiful and functional takes a dedicated team with a wide range of skills. Recently, 22 rangers and maintenance staff from across South Carolina participated in an introductory electrical training program. This initiative ensures our staff have the knowledge and confidence to tackle electrical tasks safely and effectively.
The training covered the fundamentals of electricity, including:
- Wiring principles
- Circuits
- Breakers and fuses
- Campground electrical systems
- Troubleshooting techniques
- Safe repair procedures
The program wasn't just theoretical. Participants also put their newfound knowledge to the test with a hands-on activity, where they practiced wiring switches, outlets, and lights.
Equipping our park service employees with a strong foundation in electrical work empowers them to perform their duties safely and efficiently. This training enhances their ability to:
- Address minor electrical issues within park facilities
- Maintain campground electrical systems
- Identify potential hazards and take appropriate action
We are grateful to Regional Maintenance Supervisors Brandon Bowers and Ira Agans, along with Wayne Sanders and Billy Burk, for their dedication to leading this successful training program. Their expertise and commitment to staff development are invaluable assets to South Carolina State Parks.
