Best Equipment Practices Training

The Mountain Region recently held a comprehensive "Best Equipment Practices" training session on May 22nd, 2024. Led by Regional Maintenance Supervisor Wayne Sanders, the training equipped park staff with the knowledge and skills for proper equipment care and maintenance.
The program covered a broad range of essential topics, including:
- Fluid Management: Participants learned the importance of regularly checking all fluids in park equipment and fleet vehicles, ensuring optimal performance and preventing breakdowns.
- Proper Greasing Techniques: The training emphasized the proper techniques for greasing equipment, minimizing wear and tear, and extending equipment life.
- Mower Blade Maintenance: Staff gained valuable skills in changing and sharpening mower blades, ensuring a clean and efficient cut. They also learned how to identify when a blade needs replacing for safety reasons.
- Line Trimmer Maintenance: The program covered how to refill the trimmer line, ensuring efficient operation and user safety.
- Maintaining Stick Tools and Pruners: Staff received instruction on the proper care and maintenance of stick tools and pruners, maximizing their effectiveness and preventing damage.
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): The training delved into the specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding equipment and vehicle upkeep. This ensures consistency and adherence to best practices.
- Equipment Return Procedures: Participants learned the proper protocol for returning equipment after use, including cleaning, storage, and reporting any potential issues.
