A day to reflect and remember. The Remembrance walk at Rose Hill is a guided, reflective walk and discussion honoring the enslaved African Americans buried in the African American cemetery. Participants will take a 1.5 mile walk off park grounds to the cemetery site, creating space for remembrance, learning, and quiet reflection. At the cemetery we will share insights into to the archaeological work conducted at the site, including efforts to map and define the cemetery boundaries. This discussion will highlight the importance of preserving sacred spaces, uncovering hidden histories, and acknowledging lives that were long overlooked and unrecorded. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes and come prepared for a thoughtful and respectful experience.
