Bells Across America

At Andrew Jackson State Park

Celebrate Constitution Day at Andrew Jackson State Park with the Elizabeth Hutchinson Jackson Chapter of the Daughters of the America Revolution as we participate in Bells Across America. We will gather on the lawn in front of "The Boy of the Waxhaws" statue just before 4 p.m. Bells Across America is an annual celebration of the signing of the U.S. Constitution. In unison with others gathered across the United States, we will ring bells for one minute at 4 p.m. The ring of the bells triggers our nation to remember the church bells of Philadelphia which rang out when the U.S. Constitution was first signed at 4 pm on September 17, 1787. Participants will recite the Preamble of the Constitution to remember what "we the people" did in 1787 and to reflect on what "we the people" need to continue to do today. We hope that you join us for this patriotic celebration to learn more about our Constitution.
