At Andrew Jackson State Park

Introduction to Weaving Learn about the ancient art of weaving while exploring color and texture on a simple loom in this beginning course. Each student will begin on a pre-warped rigid heddle loom. This is what you can expect: · Explore the fundamentals of weaving · Learn the parts of the loom and commonly used weaving terms · Get a feel for how the loom operates and try out various techniques · Experiment with color and texture while learning about different fibers · Pre-warped looms, materials and tools will be provided (but feel free to bring yarn from your ‘stash’ if you wish) · Experience for yourself the rhythmic process of creating your own cloth!
