Waccamaw Audubon Society Monthly Meeting

At Myrtle Beach State Park

Carnivorous plants may look like death traps—but in nature, even the most dangerous hunters can become safe havens. Discover some remarkable examples of insects that have evolved to live with carnivorous plants instead of becoming their next meal. Speaker Scott Hartley will take a closer look at how both plants and insects benefit from these unexpected relationships. Scott is a volunteer with both Myrtle Beach State Park and Friends of Lewis Ocean Bay Heritage Preserve. Lewis Ocean Bay has the last viable population of Venus Fly Traps in South Carolina.
