Fire Building
At Battle of Rivers Bridge State Historic Site
Come catch the fire bug at Rivers Bridge as we learn how to build a campfire and discuss how Civil War soldiers made their fires… some of which were way bigger than what we will be making! By the end of Fire Building! everyone will have the skills needed to start a small campfire using only matches, a cutting tool, and naturally occurring fuel just like Civil War soldiers did. We will meet at the shelter in the Day Use Area. A FREE program for ages 10 and up, all children should be accompanied by a responsible adult. Program runs 45min – 1 hour. Participants may wear masks, but are not required to, and participation is voluntary under these conditions. Program capacity - 9 people. Preregistration is recommended.
