Redcliffe AFTER Dark
At Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site
Join a ranger on a tour of the Hammond Family Cemetery and an after-dark tour of the historic mansion at Redcliffe. The cemetery is usually closed to the public, so this is your chance to see it and learn about some of the graves and iconography within! After visiting the cemetery, we will head to the Redcliffe mansion for a special tour to learn about spiritualism and James Henry Hammond, explore death practices of the 19th century, experience the mansion after dark, and more. Weather permitting, we will visit the rooftop at the end of the tour for a view of the moon. This is an all ages event, but there will be discussion of death and related content. The mansion does not have climate control and there are stairs to access the structure. Online registration is required.
