At Hampton Plantation State Historic Site

Join us at Hampton as we explore Hampton in the Age of Revolution! Learn about life in Colonial South Carolina and during the Revolutionary War! Learn how Eliza Lucas Pinckney's experiments with indigo made South Carolina one of the wealthiest of the 13 colonies, and how this wealth supported Patriot Soldiers during the American Revolution. Learn how the thousands of enslaved people in South Carolina viewed the war and what it meant for their lives. There will be presentations by Eliza Lucas, Harriott Horry, Colonial Militiamen, and a Gullah Cultural Interpreter! Visitors will have a chance to learn about colonial crafts, indigo dye, rice processing, and life in the militia! In addition there will be colonial crafts and historic games.
