Park Manager

My name is Robert Dinkins and I’m the park manager at Lake Hartwell State Park. I have been an avid outdoorsman my entire life. When I was a child, my family spent time visiting the swimming area at Poinsett State Park. This experience, combined with my love for the outdoors, helped me decide to become a park ranger while I was still in college.

My favorite feature of Lake Hartwell State Park is the lake itself. Lake Hartwell provides so many recreational opportunities for visitors, from boating to fishing and paddling and more. I enjoy the beautiful scenery the lake provides, and I enjoy watching sunrises and sunsets over the water.

If you’re a first-time visitor to Lake Hartwell, I would suggest you sit back and enjoy the beauty of the lake, whether by boat, having a picnic on the shore or hiking the nature trail that runs along the lake.

**Our Ultimate Outsider stamp is located at the kiosk outside the park visitor center.

Just off of I-85, at the South Carolina-Georgia border, you’ll find Lake Hartwell State Park.  Thanks to 56,000-acre Lake Hartwell, fishing in this area is renowned by anglers across the state. The lake is inhabited by striped and hybrid bass, largemouth, crappie, bream and catfish.

Besides the superb Lake Hartwell fishing, the park offers a basketball court, publicly accessible boat ramp and hiking. Every type of camping enthusiast will find a site that suits their needs for camping on Lake Hartwell. The park is one of a few in the state to offer the unique, single room camper cabins, which offer guests without camping gear an opportunity to experience the feel of camping on Lake Hartwell.
