Twilight Lore, Bonfire, and More!

At Rose Hill Plantation State Historic Site

Join us at Rose Hill Plantation as we retell some African tales that enslaved individuals might have shared among themselves! African and African American cultures commonly use oral traditions, also known as folklore, to entertain and also pass along life-lessons. These tales were often told by a griot: a professional storyteller, historian, entertainer, and even genealogist. Griots are respected people in West African society and often pass down their stories, talents, and societal position generationally. Our night will include a ranger-guided grounds tour, a bonfire with S’mores, and some folklore. This event is open to all ages.
