Paddling the Waterways of Charles Towne: A 350th Anniversary Program Series

At Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site

Join park rangers for a series of special tours focused on both historical and natural elements of the creeks and rivers that connected the settlement of Charles Towne and surrounding area. Start times will be tide dependent, so pay particular attention to the date, meeting time, and meeting location. March 13 and 20 - Exploring the Kiawah River (Ashley River). This four-mile paddle will start at the Cosgrove Bridge park and end at the Adventure dock at CTL. March 13 - meet at 11am at Founders Hall; March 20 - meet at 9:30am at Founders Hall. We will shuttle you from Founders Hall to the boat launch. May 8 and 15 - From James Towne to Charles Towne - This four-mile paddle will start at the Wappoo Cut boat launch on Folly Road and end at the Adventure dock at CTL. May 8 - meet at 9:30am at the Wappoo Cut boat launch on Folly Road; May 15 - meet at 10am at the Wappoo Cut boat launch on Folly Road. We will shuttle you back to your vehicle after the program. June 12 and 19 - Albemarle Point and Towne Creek - this four-mile paddle will start and end at the Adventure dock at CTL while looking at the landscape from the waterways that provided protection and access to the settlement. June 12 - meet at 11am at Founders Hall; June 19 - meet at 10am at Founders Hall. Participants should have paddling experience and MUST be able to get in or out of a floating kayak with minimal assistance onto a dock ladder and dock.
