Each country, however, based its title to the territory on a different set of cultural ideas about what constituted the legal possession of land. Join a park educator to learn more about these competing European perspectives and how various groups of Native Americans reacted to them. Decide for yourself if either imperial power really had a legitimate “right” to possess the American Southeast.
