Watercolor Painting with Amelia

At Santee State Park

Join Charleston, SC artist and book illustrator Amelia Spade for a watercolor art class and add a beautiful piece of watercolor art to your collection! Amelia will help you paint a beautiful watercolor scene of the elegant cypress forest and its reflections at Santee State Park. During this day and a half workshop, you will learn different techniques: wet-on-wet, masking, pouring, and "dipping" your painting -- all to achieve a beautiful painting by the end of your trip. Professional watercolor paper and paints and all other necessary materials will be provided. No experience necessary! Class size will be small to ensure Amelia's individual attention with the participants. Amelia's passion for art is seen in her work and her free time as a board member for the Charleston Artist Guild. She started watercolor works at an early age and has continued to explore the medium into adulthood. She recently illustrated the book "Little Miss P" by Anne Magill S. Payne about a little girl who loves dinosaurs. Her strengths lie in painting landscapes and strong expressions of color. She started small-scale travel paintings while working for the National Park Service in Grand Teton National Park, and while her love of the American West remains, she devotes much of her work now to natural Lowcountry scenes. The program price includes 3 sessions of instruction, all painting supplies, and a boat tour on Lake Marion with Fisheagle Wildlife Tours. If you want to stay in a park cabin during the program, use promo code ARTSANTEE19 to save 20% off your stay! The program activities will be Sunday from 4pm-6pm and Monday 9am-5pm. Check out of your cabin on Tuesday, or stay an extra day and start a new journal entry!
