Palmetto Backcountry Campout
At Jones Gap State Park
Have you ever wanted to take your family camping in the backcountry but lacked the gear and experience? Please join the Rangers of the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area at Jones Gap State Park for the Annual Palmetto Campout. The Palmetto Campout is an adventure-filled weekend designed for families who are new to tent camping and looking to gain basic skills. It is also a great way to get your children connected with nature! Families will stay overnight with Park Rangers in a beautiful mountain setting while learning how to set up their tents, cook on a fire, and camp like a pro. A set of loaner tents, lanterns, and air mattresses are available to borrow if you don’t have your own equipment. Participants will have an opportunity to hike with a Ranger to a waterfall, and see what kind of animals live in a cold-water habitat during a river ecology program.

Check in Saturday at 10:00 AM. Program will be overnight and conclude on Sunday at 12 PM.
