At Musgrove Mill State Historic Site
What do George Washington, Daniel Boone, and Edward Musgrove have in common? They were all land surveyors in the early part of America's history. At a time when boundary lines were first being marked and maps were beginning to be produced, this profession was one of the most important in the colonies. On Saturday, May 9 Musgrove Mill State Historic Site will offer a hands-on program for visitors to learn about and experience how the colonies would have been surveyed. Local historian and author Walter Allen will demonstrate the use of historic surveying equipment, after which time visitors will have the opportunity to try their hand at some real survey work on the park.
