Trails

Sculptured Oak Trail

Length: 0.5 miles
Type: Hiking Trail
Difficulty: Easy

Yaupon Trail

Length: 0.4 miles
Type: Hiking Trail
Difficulty: Easy

From the parking area for the Nature/Activity Centers, cross the road and begin an easy walk on the Sculptured Oak Trail to experience what the woodlands of the Grand Strand used to look like. You will pass through a forest of oaks, wax myrtles, hollies, poplars, and magnolias, which is the home of many species birds, reptiles and amphibians.

You can go straight and visit an overlook at a pond (which is rain dependent), or turn left toward the beach. After a short walk you will come to a branch and the Yaupon Trail is on the right. Both the Sculptured Oak and Yaupon trails lead to the beach, which is accessible by boardwalks. If you are looking for a longer walk you can go out on one, cross a parking area, and return on the other.
