UNIQUE FEATURES

  • Significant Features : The park is best known for the Army infantry training camp that was once located there and housed 250,000 soldiers. The training camp shut down in 1947 and in 1949 the property opened as a state park.

    Other significant features of the park include Lake Craig and Fairforest Creek. There are also ruins of homesteads located off of various trails throughout the park.

  • Wildlife : Typical wildlife you can see on the park are white-tailed deer, raccoons, fox, coyote, waterfowl and various birds of prey.
